UK sword Ban and traditional dancing

The UK sword ban Issue just wont go away! For many hobby groups its turning into a real nightmare. We now have defences in place for HEMA and other martial arts, re-enactment and As I understand it from a letter my MP sent me stage combat. However there are still a few legitimate user groups who don't come under any of the defences - dance being one of them.

I was sent this today and please if you can spare a few moments to go onto the website and sign the petition It would be great - every name is going to count!

So here's the details......PLEASE pass on it would be a real shame for these traditions to die out as a result of an ill conceived part of the VCRA...................

"Traditional folklore dances in England since as far back as 1700s have been known to use props such as sticks and sword as part of their dances.

Currently, the government does not recognize dance as either a Historical re-enactment or sporting activity and therefore dancers are not included within the exemption for the purchase & use of swords with regards to the VCR bill. These dances are forms of art that are of great historical & cultural relevance. Banning the use of these swords will inevitably cause them to die out.

It is crucial that they are preserved & allowed to continue.

There is a petition which is up on the home office website.

Please show your support and sign my petition to get dance included so that we can continue preserving the beautiful art of sword dance.

Whether you are a dancer or not, we need your support! We desperately need more signatures!

Here is the link:

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/dancers

PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN!"

Sidetracked

Okay so I got sidetracked. I have not touched the new sewing machine since it arrived......Why....well the coat mock up is done and Im pleased with how its going to look but Going from mock up to actually making it for really real its a bit scary. And besides I got sidetracked with a new hobby.

Im learning to knit.

I just finished my first scarf. Its a bit wobbly where I started but I soon got into the swing of it and its not all bad.

I was pointed to a lovely pair of opera gloves by someone on steamy stitches apparently they are good for beginners, Ive had a look and mostly it looks like I could cope BUT there are a lot of terms on there I just dont get - trying to find out what they mean and how to do them. Should be fun!
